With just two overs remaining in the match, Delhi Daredevils have come right back into the match with the partnership between JP Duminy and Manoj Tiwary. They are now placed at 142 for the loss of three wickets after the end of the 18th over. Both the batsmen have made a calculated approach towards the target so far. Duminy has been special in the last five overs, hitting sixes at will.

Duminy and Tiwary have held the chase together for Delhi after they lost three early wickets in this chase. Both the batsmen took their time early on, especially Duminy. And once both of them got set, they started unleashing the big shots. With the asking rate also climbing by the minute, Duminy is eyeing at least 10-15 runs per over. He hit Shreyas Gopal and Harbhajan Singh for sixes in consecutive overs.

Earlier in the match, after bowling out the Mumbai Indians for 171, Kevin Pietersen made sure Delhi enjoyed a good start to their chase. Opening the innings alongside Murali Vijay, the swashbuckling right-hander went after the pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Marchant De Lange.

He used his reach to great effect to thwack boundaries and sixes. He was particularly severe on Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling. Bumrah though, deceived him with a slower delivery, only for Merchant de Lange to drop the catch. At the other end, Murali Vijay was more circumspect. Vijay though, was stumped off the bowling of Shreyas Gopal.

With three spinners operating for the Indians on a turning track, it was always going to be a tough ask to chase a total of 160 plus, and Pietersen struggled against Pragyan Ojha. With runs drying up as the spinners started operating, Pietersen tried a switch-hit off Harbhajan Singh in the ninth over, and lost his wicket as he got bowled.

Pietersen’s dismissal brought Delhi’s best batsman of the season, JP Duminy to the centre. But in the next over, Delhi lost Dinesh Karthik as well, who was bowled by de Lange, in his attempt of a dilscoop.
