Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of Indians vs Western Australia XI, T20 warm-up match at Perth. India take on a second-string side of the Western Australia XI, but this will be a good chance for them to test themselves in those conditions. This is the first of two warm-up matches India will play. The second one will be a 50-over affair and will be played on Saturday. India skipper MS Dhoni has had a good rest as he has not played international cricket since the ODI series loss against South Africa. He however kept himself match fit as he played the Vijay Hazare trophy 2015-16 with his state Jharkhand. Fun fact: Two Indian batsman — Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan — scored 74 runs. Travis Birt scored 74 runs and India won by 74 runs.
Live Cricket Score WAXI 118/6 in 20 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 74(60), Josh Nicholas 4(7): The match-result was a foregone conclusion midway through the second innings. WAXI kept losing wickets at a frequent rate and apart from Birt who scored an unbeaten 74 not one batsman showed any spine against some clever Indian bowling. The Indian bowlers collectively bowled very well.
Live Cricket Score WAXI 92/6 in 17 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 56(49): India are racing to a comfortable victory. Western Australia XI have been done in by a better side. With the exception of Birt, it’s been poor cricket from the young team. But a good learning experience for them. Their just going through the motions now. OUT! Matt Kelly 2(6) st Dhoni b Patel
Live Cricket Score WAXI 83/5 in 15 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 52(43): Well deserved fifty for Travis Birt. He’s been fantastic even as his teammates have fallen cheaply. On that note, he is witness to yet another wicket, that of Jaron Morgan. Akshar Patel is the man who gets the wicket. OUT! Jaron Morgan 3(6) c Rahane b Patel
Live Cricket Score WAXI 73/4 in 13 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 45(38): India are on course for a big win as of now. Ravi jadeja has picked his second wicket with his guileful bowling and he’s gotten rid of Nick Hobson now. Travis Birt has been the only good player for WAXI in this game so far with the bat. OUT! Nick Hobson 5(10) st Dhoni b Jadeja
Live Cricket Score WAXI 62/3 in 11 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 38(33), Nick Hobson 1(3): Things going from bad to worse for Western Australia XI. Ravindra Jadeja has gotten rid of Josh Inglis for 11 of 20 balls. Jadeja has bowled very well. OUT! Josh Inglis 11(20) c Sran b Jadeja
Live Cricket Score WAXI 58/2 in 9 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 37(32), Josh Inglis 9(12): The asking rate has gone past the 12 mark now. Ravichandran Ashwin and Rishi Dhawan bowled nice tight overs. The batsmen are now looking to consolidate and build a partnership instead of going for risky shots. This may be a good idea given that the nature of T20 suggests the game’s momentum can shift at any moment.
Live Cricket Score WAXI 45/2 in 7 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 33(30), Josh Inglis 1(2): Things have improved a tad bit for the home side in past couple of overs but their well far of the required rate at the moment and that figure is only climbing. Birt is looking to accelerate now. Got a few shots in against Rishi Dhawan and scored a boundary against Jadeja in the next over.
Live Cricket Score WAXI 27/2 in 5 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 17(19), Josh Inglis 0(1): Sran’s selection was the topic of much discussion and he has lived up to all the positive words that were spoken about him in the cricketing fraternity. He’s struck with the second wicket and it’s William Bosisto who falls now. Bosisto struggled during his brief stay at the crease. Bosisto tried to smash a short length delivery out of the park but extra bounce got his top edge and it resulted in a skier at square leg where Ashwin took the catch. OUT! William Bosisto 1(5) c Ashwin b Sran
Live Cricket Score WAXI 20/1 in 3 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 11(12), William Bosisto 0(2): And that’s the first success for Barinder Sran in India colours. He’s gotten rid of D’Arcy Short for five runs. William Bosisto is the new man in. India will be very happy with how they have started their defence of 192. There was a bit of extra bounce for Sran which did the trick. OUT! D’Arcy Short 5(5) c Ashwin b Sran
Live Cricket Score WAXI 12/0 in 2 overs | Batting: Travis Birt 4(8), D’Arcy Short 5(4): MS Dhoni was keen to test out India’s new bowling weapon Barinder Sran. He used him in the very first over. He bowled a nice tight line conceding just six runs in the first over. Umesh Yadav bowled a similarly tight line in the second over. The WA batsmen looking a bit out of sorts at the moment.
Live Cricket Score India 192/4 in 20 overs | Batting: MS Dhoni 22(14), Gurkeerat Singh Mann 0(1): Ajinkya Rahane’s stay at the crease was very brief and had no much impact on the scorecard. WAXI pulled things back in the death overs in an admirable way after taking a harsh beating in the middle overs. Ms Dhoni played a decent knock of a 14-ball 22. OUT! Ajinkya Rahane 2(3) c Inglis b Duffield
Live Cricket Score India 173/3 in 18 overs | Batting: MS Dhoni 7(6): A great over by Matt Kelly under pressure. He got his yorkers right, built the pressure and pried out the wicket of Dhawan who was trying to break free. Only two runs conceded of that over. Meanwhile Ajinkya Rahane is the new man in. India will attempt to get as many runs as possible in the last couple of overs. OUT! Shikhar Dhawan 74(46) c Short b Kelly
Live Cricket Score India 171/2 in 17 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 73(44), MS Dhoni 6(2): It takes a great catch by wicket-keeper Inglis to get rid of Virat Kohli of a wild thick edge. Kohli was in blazing form and Western Australia will heave a sigh of relief but not for long because MS Dhoni is the new man in and has got of the mark with a four and follows it up with a . OUT! Virat Kohli 74(44) c Inglis b Nicholas
Live Cricket Score India 136/1 in 15 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 64(41), Virat Kohli 58(37): Virat Kohli is in the mood now. He’s raced past his 50-run mark and is now looking to go very big. India have not lost too many wickets and can take the risks now. David Moody bore the brunt of Virat Kohli in the 15th over getting smashed for a six and a couple of fours after which he bowled a horrendous delivery that went for five wides. That over yielded 24 runs for India.
Live Cricket Score India 95/1 in 12 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 57(35), Virat Kohli 30(25): That’s fifty for Shikhar Dhawan, he has been absolutely stunning in this innings and offered very little chance to the fielding side. He brought up his fifty of 31 balls in the 12th over and then celebrated it with a resounding six in the same over of Muirhead.
Live Cricket Score India 84/1 in 11 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 47(30), Virat Kohli 29(24): The 10th over of the innings bowled by James Muirhead was a nice, tight over with only 6 runs coming of it. Liam O’Connor started the next over poorly with Shikhar Dhawan cashing in one short one to score a boundary but kept it tight after that.
Live Cricket Score India 70/1 in 9 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 37(22), Virat Kohli 25(20): Virat Kohli is getting into the act now. Hooked a shot ball off David Moody for an emphatic six. Dhawan survived a close shave in the 9th over. Attempted a hook, got just a fine edge but it beat the wicketkeeper and raced to the boundary behind. India are scoring at a quick rate. 26 runs added in the last couple of overs.
Live Cricket Score India 44/1 in 7 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 27(16), Virat Kohli 9(14): Some amazing stroke play on display here. Shikhar Dhawan is continuing to score very well and has even smashed a six. It was a rising ball at chest level, Dhawan rocked back and neatly hit it over the fine leg boundary. Virat Kohli is content with rotating strike at the moment but will soon look for some boundaries.
Live Cricket Score India 29/1 in 5 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 17(8), Virat Kohli 6(10): Shikhar Dhawan seems to be in fantastic touch, he’s hit some glorious drives through the off side. The good part about his touch has been that he has not taken too much time to get his eye in and is yet playing so well. Virat Kohli is looking a tad scratchy.
Live Cricket Score India 13/1 in 3 overs | Batting: Shikhar Dhawan 7(4), Virat Kohli 0(2): Rohit Sharma has been run out after looking quite settled at the crease. He will rue the missed opportunity to get himself acclimatised to the Australian conditions. Virat Kohli is the new man in. Dhawan has looked good in his short stay at the crease so far. OUT! Rohit Sharma 6(12) run out
Live Cricket Score India 10/0 in 2 overs | Batting: Rohit Sharma 5(10), Shikhar Dhawan 5(2): It’s been quite a good start for India but there is some promise for the home team too. There seems to be good amount of bounce on offer. The bowlers started with a fuller length but have quickly decided to bowl short instead.
