LONDON: India have made it two in two at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 by defeating defending champions Australia by 36 runs on Sunday at Kennington Oval.

Driven to 352/5 in 50 overs, which is their fourth-best total in a World Cup match, on the basis of Shikhar Dhawan‘s 117 and fifties to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, India limited Australia to 316 in their full quota.

  • 11:33 PM IST

Virat Kohli: A top, top win for us after losing that series in India. We came in with
intent right from ball one. The opening p’ship was outstanding. It was
an outstanding with the ball on a good batting track. You have to bowl
well. You can’t take things for granted. That 30 runs gives you the
luxury. One of the top three getting hundred. We decided to send Hardik
to cash in. For us if Shami has to play, it has to be overcast and
proper bowling conditions. Very professional again. You hardly need to
    say anything to them.

  • 11:31 PM IST

Aaron Finch: They got 120 off the last 10 overs and that’s a lot. There wasn’t
huge amount on offer. We could have dried up more. They bat very deep,
you want to go for wickets. Just that type of a game, they outplayed us.
You look at everything. You look for different combinations depending
on the situation. We’re starting to pick up the tempo; that’s one mode
of dismissal. They bowled well to him. He’s a great bowler and he’ll
    bounce back.

  • 11:24 PM IST

Shikhar Dhawan (2/2): We ticked all the boxes today. We knew they are a great side and the match will go down to the wire. We need to continue ticking the boxes in upcoming matches. The fans are having a great time and they’ll be happy with this win.

  • 11:24 PM IST

Shikhar Dhawan (1/2): We are happy with the result as it was a great team effort. It’s a great sign for our team and I’m happy with this man of the match award. Very happy with the performance overall. We are a great fielding side, we took great catches. We have a good bowling side, great spinners as well. We work really hard in the nets, our process is very strong that’s why the results are going our way.

Live Cricket Score, India vs Australia Match 14

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Match 14 of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between India and Australia at the Kennington Oval, London on Sunday.

Aaron Finch, the captain of defending champions Australia, feels that this match could be influenced by the fast bowlers on either side. He also feels that Australia’s 3-2 ODI series in in India earlier this year, which came after his team was down 0-2, has given the side added impetus as they chase a hat-trick of wins in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Rohit Sharma, a batsman who averages 61.87 against Australia in ODIs, and who is coming off a match-winning unbeaten century to steer India to victory in their first game of the tournament – an innings his skipper Virat Kohli termed the best of his career – does not quite think that what happened February-March at home will have any bearing on game 14 of the World Cup.

And despite having such a superb record against Australia, Rohit doesn’t feel he has any noticeable advantage over India’s opponents.

Sunday’s game at Kennington Oval is a cracker, whichever way you view it, as second-ranked India take on a resurgent Australia. India didn’t need to hit third gear as they beat South Africa by six wickets. Australia dispatched Afghanistan with ease and then overcame a scare against West Indies, with Nathan Coulter-Nile scoring 92 and Mitchell Starc grabbing five wickets.

Both team possess quality pace attacks, with Starc and Pat Cummins on one side and Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the other. On a rather dry Kennington Oval surface, expect both teams to not hold the pack on bowling fast and short.
