Virender Sehwag received support from Anirudh Chaudhary, the Haryana Cricket Association secretary and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer for missing the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2015-16 matches while he will be playing the Cricket All Stars League in USA next month. The Twenty 20 league that features retired legends like VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Shane Warne, Kumar Sangakkara, Brian Lara and many others is inclusive of three matches which will happen on on November 7 in New York, November 11 in Houston and November 14 in Los Angeles. Haryana will face Assam and Odisha in Lahli from November 7 and November 15 respectively and will miss their skipper Sehwag in these games. According to Times of India, Chaudhary sees no harm in Sehwag missing these Ranji matches. He said, “Sehwag has announced his retirement from international cricket. In spite of that, he has decided to go on and complete the Ranji season with Haryana. How many cricketers show such commitment after retirement? If he chooses to miss a couple of games, it is his decision and I don’t see anything wrong in it.”

Sehwag recently brought curtains down in his elite international career with a total of 104 Tests, 251 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 19 T20Is for India. He is the only Indian cricketer to have two triple centuries in the Tests. Just two days of his retirement, the former Indian cricketer smashed 119-ball 100 for Haryana against Karnataka in Ranji Trophy’s Round 4. And in the second innings he made a decent 40 and eventually helped his side earn crucial three points by taking the first innings lead over the defending champions.
