Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day Four of the ongoing second Test between South Africa and England at the Durban on Tuesday. This is Vishal Mehra, and I shall be presenting to you the live updates from the game as and when they occur.  England go into Day 4 with having an unbeatable lead of 261 runs against South Africa. England after getting a first innings lead of 89 runs added another 172 runs for the loss of three wickets. England were helped by Nick Compton 49 and Joe Root 60* in their quest to win the first Test. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 136/4 in 47 overs | Batting:  AB de Villiers 37(79), : STUMPS!! AB de Villiers and Faf Du Plessis survive half of the day with out much hassle and with just three balls to go in the end. Steven Finn worked his magic and picked up Du Plessis in the final line of the day . De Villiers and Du Plessis had absorbed everything the English bowlers have thrown at them. With this Day 5 is all set for a thrilling finish as South Africa need 280 runs to win and England need more 6 wickets to gain an important 0-1 lead in the series

 LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 133/3 in 42 overs | Batting:  AB de Villiers 35(67), Faf du Plessis 8(55) : AB de Villiers and Faf Du Plessis have kept their calm and play out the dangerous duo of Steven Finn and Stuart Broad for 20 odd -overs. De Villiers luck was with him as Jonny Bairstow missed an stumping chances of Moeen Ali. South Africa still need 283 runs to win with England needing more 7 wickets to gain a 0-1 lead in the series.

 LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 114/3 in 32 overs | Batting:  AB de Villiers 24(37), Faf du Plessis 3(13) : Both AB de Villiers and Faf Du Plessis have survived the spell by Steven Finn and Chris Woakes. Steven Finn was looking dangerous after picking up the wickets of Hashim Amla and Dean Elgar. With rain looming around it might just help English bowlers to get the ball some swing. South Africa need more 302 run to win.

Elgar goes after making 40 runs. Steven Finn looks to be on a roll with a ball. Both Elgar and Amla got out playing wrong shots to wrong balls. South Africa still need 328 runs to win. The clouds have gather around the stadium looking like rain stop is eminent soon.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 85/2 in 20.2 overs | Batting: Dean Elgar 35(50), AB de Villiers 0(0): OUT!! Steven Finn picks up the dangerous Hashim Amla for 2. Amla in a bid to play extravagant drive gets one to edge and keeper catches it .South Africa’s most talisman batsman AB de Villiers is on the field. Dean Elgar continues his marathon innings on the ground. South Africa still need  331 runs to win.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 83/1 in 17 overs | Batting: Dean Elgar 35(50),Hashim Amla 11(14) :Dean Elgar after coming from tea has looked his destructive best hitting the bowlers away for four’s.  He has so far hit six ball into the line. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 53/1 in 10.5 overs | Batting: Dean Elgar 15(16),Hashim Amla : OUT!! Ben Stokes cleans up Stiaan van Zyl who looked good in his stay at crease making 35 ball 33. Van Zyl earlier brought up fifty run partnership with Dean Elgar. Captain Hashim Amla is out int he middle will want to go into Tea without losing any more wickets. South Africa still need 362 runs to win.

 

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 24/0 in 6 overs | Batting: Dean Elgar 9(12), Stiaan van Zyl 16 (18): Dean Elgar and Stiaan van Zyl have looked good in the first 5 overs, putting bat on ball. Van Zyl has been more aggressive in his approach striking 2 boundaries already where as Elgar has hit one. South Africa will want to go into tea with no loss of wickets. England on the other hand will likely want at least two wickets into Tea. Their were a catch dropped of Elgar at short-leg with James Taylor getting one on the wrist. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: South Africa 2/0 in 1 over | Batting: Dean Elgar1(5), Stiaan van Zyl1(1): Dean Elgar will want to replicate his marathon innings from he first time around if South Africa have any chance of winning this Test. Stiaan van Zyl will have a lot of confident coming into bat after picking up three wickets. Stuart Broad will want to get into the South African batting line up early into the session.  

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  326 in 102.4  Overs | Batting: Steven Finn 0(0)  : ALL OUT!!  Stiaan van Zyl gets 3 for 20 as England set  South Africa a target of 416.Superb innings from Jonny Bairstow propelled them past 400. South Africa will have to bat out of their skin to win or draw this Test.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  315/9 in 100.4  Overs | Batting:  Jonny Bairstow 68*(62),Steven Finn 0(0)  : DOUBLE WICKET OVER OUT AGAIN!! Stuart Broad goes for a duck. Van Zyl picks his second wicket of the match and over as well.  Chris Woakes misses out on his top score by just 3 runs giving away his wicket to Stiaan van Zyl . England since lunch have batted with a positive intent with Jonny Bairstow crossing his fifty and Chris Woakes nearing his top score in Test i.e. 26*. Bairstow and Woakes added 43 runs for the eight wicket. Stuart Broad has come down in the middle will trying to hit some quick runs.England already by 404 runs.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  276/7 in 91.1 Overs | Batting:  Jonny Bairstow 50*(50), Chris Woakes 2* (8): FIFTY Jonny Bairstow bring up his sixth half century in Tests. England will want to extend their lead at least 420 before they can feel safe. South Africa have started with Dane Piedt in a bid to extract spin. South Africa has been bowling with the older ball already into its’ 91st over. England lead South Africa by 365 runs.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  275/7 in 91  Overs | Batting:  Jonny Bairstow 49*(49), Chris Woakes 2* (4) : LUNCH This session has more or less belonged to South Africa with picking four wickets. Dane Piedt has been the go to man for South Africa this morning picking up three wickets and bringing up his first ever five wicket haul in Tests. Jonny Bairstow who remained not out on 49 in as many balls will want to get England lead up to 400 before they get all out. England over all lead has now extended to 364 runs placed at 275 for 7 at lunch. LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  224/6  in 80  Overs | Batting: Moeen Ali 0(0), Jonny Bairstow 16(14) : Out!! Dane Piedt picks up another wicket , grabs the big wicket of James Taylor. Taylor in a bid to flick on misses the ball completely and ends up getting stumped by keeper. Piedt has bowled well since the morning playing with guile and speed as batsmen have found him difficult to play. England over lead is now up to 313 runs.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  197/5 in 73.6  Overs | Batting:  James Taylor 31* (69), Jonny Bairstow 0(0) : OUT!! Dane Piedt on song, picks up Ben Stokes for 5 in an attempt to reverse sweep. England overall lead nears 300. This has been South Africa’s morning with their bowlers taking two crucial wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes. Now James Taylor and Jonny Bairstow will need to calm nerves and ensure that England get the lead past 350.

 LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  192/4 in 70.4  Overs | Batting:  James Taylor 31* (69), Ben Stokes 0(0) : OUT!! Joe Root trying to play cut the ball gives his wicket away. A good catch taken by Stiaan Van Zyl as Kyle Abbott gets a wicket in his very first over the day. This was helped for the fact that Morne Morkel applied good pressure by bowling line and length. Ben Stokes has come after he was having a bit of niggle early in morning.

 LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  190/3 in 70  Overs | Batting: Joe Root 71* (124), James Taylor 31* (69): With the ball reversing it will be interesting to see Since the start of the morning Morne Morkel has been the most dangerous bowler for South Africa. Morkel’s 67th to James Taylor was a beauty to watch with getting the ball to reverse swing. Dane Piedt who has been chosen to partner Morkel with the new bowl has managed to get the ball to spin and get uneven bounce as well. England lead by 279 runs.

 LIVE CRICKET SCORE: England  173/3 in 65  Overs | Batting: Joe Root 61* (113), James Taylor 24* (50): Morne Morkel starts off with  good over giving away only a single run. England would look to pile on the misery on South African bowlers with already leading by 261 runs, English batsmen will want to gain minimum 400 before having any thoughts of putting South Africa into bat. Morne Morkel, Kyle Abbott and Co will be without Dale Steyn who remains to be unfit to bowl as scans came out inconclusive. Hashim Amla would want his bowlers to keep the run-rate as slow as possible. England start the day with Joe Root unbeaten on 60* and James Taylor not out on 24*. Root will want to get to his ninth Test ton as soon as possible.

Day 3 belonged to both batsmen and bowler’s with Dean Elgar carrying his bat thought the first innings for South Africa making an unbeaten 118*, only the sixth South African to do so . He could not save his team from getting bundled out for 303 as Moeen Ali tormented South African batsmen picking up a four-for along side Stuart Broad who also managed to pick up four wickets. With an lead of 89 runs England batsmen found it tough to score of Morne Morkel and Dane Piedt scoring only 13 runs in the first 10 overs with Piedt picking up captain Alastair Cook for 7 runs. Alex who batted well till he thought of playing T20-ish shot giving his wicket to Piedt for 36. Nick Compton and Joe Root got together bring up a fifty run partnership before Compton fell for 49 missing out on a well deserved fifty to Morkel.
