Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the 41st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 between Pool B teams West Indies and United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the McLean Park in Napier on Sunday. This is Amit Banerjee, and I will be bringing you the over-by-over updates from the match. Preview: West Indies vs UAE
West Indies, who have lifted cricket’s most coveted trophy twice in their cricketing history, are in the danger of getting knocked out of the competition in the first round itself. They are currently occupying the fifth position in the group with four points. While the West Indians beat Pakistan and Zimbabwe with convincing margins along their path so far, they incurred devastating losses to Ireland, South Africa and India. This makes the upcoming game all the more important for Jason Holder’s men if they are to keep the hopes of their fans alive. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: POINTS TABLE
UAE, on the other hand, have something to cheer about with their individual performance. Shaiman Anwar is all set to feature as the most experienced player and has been featuring among the top ten run-getters in the tournament. Top 10 batsmen in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
Considering the match being held at Napier, McLean Park is known for a flat track and is expected to be a run scoring feast for the batsmen. If Gayle plays, he should be the man to watch out for, as will be Russell. The team winning the toss would surely love to bat first and would like to go in with an extra all-rounder in the squad. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Pool-wise Team Standings
Squad:
West Indies: Jason Holder (c), Denesh Ramdin (wk), Dwayne Smith, Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Jonathan Carter, Lendl Simmons, Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Andre Russell, Jerome Taylor, Nikita Miller, Sulieman Benn, Kemar Roach, Sheldon Cottrell.
