Shreyas Iyer, who led Mumbai to a triumphant Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19 title last week, was announced captain of the side on Thursday. Mumbai, 41-time Ranji champions, will face Railways in the opener from November 1 at New Delhi.

Teenage prodigy Prithvi Shaw, who scored a century on Test debut in the first Test against West Indies, is still recovering from an elbow injury after he was struck by a shortish delivery off Deepak Chahar while batting for India A in the Deodhar Trophy 2018-19 season.
