KKR’s scintillating start: Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa provided their side a strong start, which was equally supported by some poor bowling from the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The two batsmen added 57 runs for the first wicket which laid the platform for a strong total. Both Gambhir and Uthappa were smart in their approach, not taking undue risks and playing most of their strokes along the ground. IPL 2015 Highest wicket-taker: List of best bowlers in IPL 8

Manish Pandey’s crucial innings: Pandey’s innings of 33 off 26 balls, studded with two boundaries and a six was crucial as he ensured the start provided by Gambhir and Uthappa did not go waste. Unfortunately for KKR, none of their middle-order batsmen did the job to the extent the team would have liked, but the innings from Pandey and his assurance from one end kept KKR’s hopes of a strong total alive. Yusuf Pathan’s invaluable contribution: Just when Sunrisers were fritting away with wickets, the veteran batsman dropped anchor and did well with the tailenders to take Kolkata past the 150-run mark. Yusuf scored 30 not out off 19 balls, and he never looked in any kind of pressure or any hurry to get runs. IPL 2015 Leading fielders: List of Best fielders in IPL 8

Dale Steyn’s poor run continues: Apart from zipping a couple of quick ones past the batsmen with the new ball, the Sunrisers’ pace spearhead struggled once again as he was belted for 37 runs without any wicket. Steyn came close when he beat Gambhir’s bat early on, but there was no other instance that could show the pacer was coming back to form. Umesh Yadav’s initial burst: In crunch matches, any total could be tricky and the team chasing always fears getting off to a poor start. Unfortunately for the Sunrisers, this was the day when their skipper David Warner — No. 2 on the run-scorers chart in IPL 2015 — was out cheaply. Umesh Yadav was on fire as he made most of the new ball, knocking back the stumps of both Warner and No. 3 batsman Naman Ojha to get KKR off to a brilliant start. Moises Henriques’s resistance: The only batsman from the SRH team who could provide some resistance to the KKR bowlers was Moises Henriques, who scored 41 off 33 balls with the help of two sixes and as many boundaries. It was largely due to Henriques’s inning that SRH managed to go closer to the 100-run mark, as virtually every other batsman failed. IPL 2015 schedule: IPL 8 match time table with venue details

Brad Hogg sizzles once again: The left-arm bowler returned with figures of 4-0-17-2 as he bagged the key wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Henriques. The Sunrisers batsmen in general failed to read his deliveries, which proved once again that there are few more years of cricket left in him. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015: Complete coverage
