भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ सिडनी टेस्ट में अपनी पहली पारी 7 विकेट पर 622 रन बनाकर घोषित की।
टीम इंडिया की ओर से मध्यक्रम के बल्लेबाज चेतेश्वर पुजारा ने 373 गेंदों पर 193 रन की शानदार पारी खेली जबकि युवा विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज रिषभ पंत ने नाबाद 159 रन बनाए। अनुभवी ऑलराउंडर रविंद्र जडेजा ने 81 रन बनाए।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने इसके जवाब में दूसरे दिन का खेल समाप्त होने तक बिना किसी नुकसान के 24 रन बना लिए हैं। हालांकि मेजबान टीम अब भी भारत से 598 रन पीछे है।
पुजारा भले ही विदेशी धरती पर अपने पहले दोहरे शतक से चूक गए हों लेकिन उनकी मैराथन पारी ने ऑस्ट्रेलियाई गेंदबाजों को पस्त करने में अहम भूमिका निभाई। उन्होंने अपनी पारी में 22 चौके लगाए।

पंत ने 189 गेंदों पर 15 चौकों और एक छक्के की मदद से नाबाद 159 रन बनाकर कई रिकॉर्ड अपने नाम किए। वह ऑस्ट्रेलियाई सरजमीं पर शतक जड़ने वाले पहले भारतीय विकेटकीपर बने। रविंद्र जडेजा (81) ने भी अर्धशतक जड़कर ऑस्ट्रेलियाई गेंदबाजों के संघर्ष को बरकरार रखने में अपना अहम योगदान दिया।
