Although Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance in the penultimate over of the Australian chase, where the Indian pacer scalped two wickets for two runs, almost denied Australia a win, the duo of Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson kept their nerves to guide India to a last-ball win. (ALSO READ: Jasprit Bumrah becomes second Indian bowler to take 50 T20I wickets)

Coulter-Nile, who won the Man of the Match award for his three-wicket haul, lauded his team’s bowlers following Australia’s win. “I thought the boys bowled really well and we scraped home in the end. While India were coming into this series on the back of their tour of New Zealand, the Aussies entered the series following the KFC Big Bash League. The exposure and form of the guys did help Australia in the end.

The Australian pacer highlighted the fact, saying, “We have been playing a bit of cricket in the BBL.”

Coulter-Nile, who was the architect of Australia’s win at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, went on to say that the visitors will be looking forward to win the second game and clinch the series. (In pics: India vs Australia, 2019 1st T20I)

India will take on Australia in the second Twenty20 international on February 27 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The two-match T20I series will be followed by five-match ODI series which will commence on March 2 in Hyderabad.
