Glenn Maxwell s breath-taking 113 off just 55 balls helped Australia seal the second Twenty20 International by seven wickets and the series 2-0 against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. With the 2-0 series win, the tourists have clinched their maiden bilateral series on Indian soil. It was the first series loss for captain Virat Kohli across all formats. Chasing a tricky 191, Australia wobbled early in the run-chase. They lost both their openers Marcus Stoinis (7) and captain Aaron Finch (8) inside the first four overs.

Maxwell then took centrestage and unleashed some lusty blows, nine huge sixes and seven boundaries, in just 55 balls as Australia chased down the target with two balls to spare.

It feels really good. We haven’t had a lot of success here of late. To come over here and perform like we have has started it off well for us on this tour. Having confidence in my game also has helped a lot and it feels great to contribute to two special wins, Maxwell, who won the Man of the Match and the Series, said the post-match presentation ceremony. Maxwell received good support from D Arcy Short (40 off 28) as the duo conjured 77 runs for the third wicket. Following Short s departure to Vijay Shankar, Peter Handscomb (20 off 18) did well to rotate the strike as they forged 99 runs for the unconquered fourth wicket. Was a pretty good wicket and we could afford to wait for the loose balls. We knew that it could be easier against the quicks, anything around 12 rpo, we fancied to chase that down. After D’Arcy’s dismissal, it was upto me to drive the rest of the innings. Handscomb did a great job in giving me the strike all the time. We had a lot of chaos in the last game, but we corrected that tonight, Maxwell explained.
